Saturday Evening Post

PhotobucketAs I stayed awake to watch the Australian Open Woman's Final....
I realized that I really didn't have to. I was expecting to a serious competition between
Serena Williams & Dinara Safina but thats not what i saw. Serena had more of a challenge in the
quarterfinals against Russia's Svetlana Kuznetsova. In this match, she actually lost a set while playing in 120 plus degree weather. After the first set the roof was closed on the court and after a 25 minute break. Serena came back and cooked Kuznetsova. Some controversy did arise about the decision to close the dome in the middle of the match, but not much.
Some said that Serena was out of shape, that was last seen in her quarterfinal match. After that she didn't allow her opponent to win more than 4 games in a set. She may not be in peak shape but she had enough stamina to win the open. Congrats.

They Stole Our Snow Day

I awoke to white trees and whiter roads....my first thought....No Skool!!! DC Almost always closes down when it snows.
I turn on the news....Howard University please pop up...please pop up! NOPE! Look on the website...we have skool.
Damn!
I decide for over 20 mins on whether or not i'm going to make the 10 mins walk now 16 becuz of the snow..to campus for my History of Africana Philosophy class. which i haven't been to yet.....i registered for the class the friday before last....last tuesday was the inauguration...no skool and thursday..i didn't go...only becuz i forgot and thought the class was later than 11:10....I decide to go....I get dressed..put my iPod on and head to campus only to come to an empty classroom...the class where i'm supposed to have class.....So basically for NOTHING...I walked to campus in the snow.
Handled some other business..so i felt a little bit better but still!

As the day nears closing....I become more anxious. On Sunday, The Pittsburgh Steelers will try to make history by becoming the only NFL team to will 6 Superbowls. A very tough feat to accomplish.
ben
The Steelers as well as the Cardinals arrived in Tampa yesterday..
Today is media day. Local, National and International press interview players and coaches. Sadly, we don't have NFL network so i am unable to watch the entire day of media. For right now I will watch NFL Live on ESPN until I have time later to watch interviews online. The biggest concern on both sides is the condition of Hines Ward's knee. He has had 2 weeks to receive the knee but I believe that the injury is more serious but he is Hines Ward and this is the Superbowl...hes going to Play. But I was reminded that in 2006 on our way to Superbowl 40..Hines Ward was injured with a sprained shoulder..good karma? Maybe.

Ben with the camera again

A great performance by Ben Roethlisberger is need to ensure victory this time around. Ben is aware of the face that he played bad the first superbowl and he looks to improve and prove himself as an elite quarterback. Ben has continued to improve as the season progressed and i'm sure he will do better this time around.
Although since 2004, Ben has been sacked more than any quarterback in the NFL one more than Marc Bulger. Ben also has the Second Best winning percentage among all active quarterbacks, right behind Tom Brady.
Stop sleepin on Big Ben

Whats up with Chargers GM AJ Smith disrespecting and mocking LT (LaDainian Tomlinson).
lt
This is a display poor ethics and taste. Why would you down your star player, who has been nothing
but one of the best running backs in the NFL for the past several
seasons and he still wants to play for your team.
Your trippin sir, you did the right thing by apologizing but I know and LT knows its fake.
But hes loyal to the organization, your lucky.
And you better not trade him! But if you do...good for the team he goes and terrible for you.
It'll be like a curse.

What a Weekend!!!

My weekend ended early this morning....

Still fatigued..I bring to you...A Life Changing Weekend...

First!
I am 2 for 2 in my Super Bowl predictions.....
Cardinals....
Steelers........
Larry Fitzgearld can't be stopped!!!
Larry
3 touchdowns!!
The eagles made a valiant comeback in the 4th quarter but let too much time for Kurt and the Cards to march up field and hang another 7 on them...
McNabb
Philly Eagles Great Season!!!!
We will continue to wait for an All PA Superbowl...

The toughest schedule in the NFL couldn't keep the Steelers out the 7th Trip to the Super Bowl...
AFC Champs again for the 7th times.

Big Ben lead the offense...making laser beam passes to his receivers..
Santonio Holmes continues to be a playmaker
Hines Ward makes first down often before his injury...
Troy Polamalu and the new Steel Curtain play Championship defense..
only allowing 198 yards..
Troy!!!

Lamar
AFC Champs....
Santoniooo!
Tampa here we come!
Coach Tomlin
PITTSBURGH'S GOING TO THE SUPER BOWL!!!!!

Now Number 4 Pitt took on Number 8 Syracuse on monday night and The Panthers came to play...Sam Young scored 18 of his 22 in the second half .
Juan Blair with 20 and 12.
Way to bounce back at the loss.

I did not deliver a MLK Post....
Dr. Martin Luther King is the staple of the Civil Rights Movement. Dr. King's struggle for equality impacted the entire country and he was admired all over the world for it. I must thank Dr. King for helping us get where we are right now...
It still amazes me how MLK Day fell the day before The Inauguration.

I give you....The Last Speech of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Early Tuesday Morning, me and my confidants travels to the National Mall of Washington...having to walk over 20 blocks to get there amongst millions of people from everywhere...

This was the scene as we stepped of the Metro.....

President Obama being sworn in...

The Inaugural speech of President Obama promised a New America.
An america of all races, religions, colors.
Reaching out to former enemies to make peace..
This is an America we can all look forward to living in..
Never in my life have I seen so many people. So many people there for one purpose...to witness history...to the beginning of a new America....
Photobucket4 million people...

Then Came...The Mass Exodus...Over a million people walking up 18th Street...

The overall mood of everyone was cheerful and excited. Never have a seen so many people care for and look out for each other..Opening up to others...It was amazing...People from everywhere....Brazil...Australia...Jamaica..(Jamaica was deep!)...Japan....California....Minnesota...Pittsburgh...Canada....Kenya...
I gave my flag to a Kenyan woman who asked me for it...she offered to pay me but I refused payment.
I hope you enjoyed your time in America.....

Proud to be an American...
Besides the 1996 Olympics with Michael Johnson, a brief post 9-11 period and the 2008 Olympics with Michael Phelps & The Redeem Team, have I ever been truly proud to be an American. I find it interesting that most of my proud moments center around sports. I believe the feeling I felt was mutual among almost everyone who was there.

There are just about 4 million stories about Tuesday...This is 1.

Happy Friday!
Have a Good Weekend!

Happy Saturday

I really enjoyed Notorious. A great picture about the Life of Chris Wallace. Gravy a excellent job playing BIG. Sounding more like BIG when spoke versus when rapping. Angela Bassett became Ms. Wallace bringing maturity and experience to the cast. Derek Luke one of my favorite actors right now, had the diddy dance down. He did a good job. Naturi from 3LW...remember them? I didn't know it was her, until GM said something and I still didn't think it was her. I had to IMDB her when i got home. She looked like Kim and sounded like Kim..great job. Great Job!!!  Marc John Jefferies...young 50...from Losing Isiah...really shows you what young Cease was like...I already know Cease is a funny dude. Jefferies had to grow up alot to play this role. Anthony Mackie as 2pac...i thought he was pretty good...but other disagree. I personally think it is almost always harder to play a Non Fictional character. I mean in a 2pac movie...I probably wouldn't choose Mackie...Derek Luke before Mackie but for a Biggie movie he played Pac.
If you haven't seen it yet. Go See It.

Syracuse is playing good ball right now....ranked #8 just being 12th ranked Notre Dame. But Syracuse real test comes on monday night at 7pm when they meet Number 1 ranked Pitt.
Next up is Texas A&M vs Oklahoma....Blake Griffin is a monster. Similar to Mike Beasley.
I think OK will pull this one out on the road. Griffin 28 & 12 with maybe 5 blocks
After that! Pitt at Louisville. Great test for the Panthers. But The Oakland Zoo will still hold
it down. Pitt Rolls on. Blair 22 & 11. Fields 17 & 11 Young 28
Then UNC vs Miami....Tar Heels will smash out. Hanbourgh another double double

I CAN'T WAIT TIL TOMORROW!!!!!!!

- Enjoy Your Saturday

Something to ride to for the day........

Big Weekend!!!!

JonesStreetJournal first video blog

Post Game Analysis of the Last weekend in Sports

Enjoy!

TOMORROW!

I can't wait!!!! I've been waiting for this movie before it was made...If that makes any sense.
BIG was and still is one of my favorite rappers. I'll never forget the first time I heard BIG, Juicy on the radio.
And i still know the whole song!
I've been hearing mixed reviews about the movie and how Lil Kim was irate on how she was portrayed in the movie.
But i'm curious to see it....regardless of what Roger Ebert may give it....I'm see it and You should too!
In the theaters!!! Cuz i already know this is going to the most bootlegged movie ever!!!
Damn Shame.

Saturday!!!
juan blair 1
l fields 1
Besides all the parties that will be going on in DC.
Number 1 ranked Pittsburgh Panthers!!!!!!
will face off against Louisville at 6:30 pm.
I'll take Pitt in this one 71-89
Juan Blair will another double double
Floor General Fields...coming off his career high in assist last night with 11...will match
that effort again with 11 assists

Sunday!!!!
NFC Championship Game...
cards vs.eagles

In this battle of the birds in the desert. You will see a high scoring game. McNabb has pieced
together a season worth of ending in the Super Bowl. But so has Kurt Warner so has a better
Championship game record and super bowl record. But those don't mean anything right....
In the battle of Reid's Defense vs. Wesinhunt's Offense....i may give the nod to the O.

Like I stated the Eagles are the hottest teams of the past 2 months in football and have proven
it by putting together 2 amazing regular wins and 2 even more amazing playoff wins.
No one wants to face the Eagles right now....Except maybe the Cards. No one expected
The Cards to be here right now except for me....and a few loyal Cards fans.
The way that Warner and Fitzgerald are playing...there maybe be only 1 team to stop them
I'll give one guess. They from PA but it sure ain't Philly.
As much as i would love to see an All PA Superbowl....it might not happen.
I'm Taking the Cards. but i won't be to upset it philly wins.

AFC Championship Game!!!!!!
what i've been waiting for for the longest!!!!!!
It's Round 3 between Us and Them and i know we're both gonna come out swinging.
This is gonna be a hard hitting and physical game. With a very low score. The
opposite of the NFC championship game. In the end i think the steelers will pull out a W
In a narrow margin of victory. The first 2 games were decided by 3 points. This one will
be by 6.

So there you have it.....my superbowl picks
STEELERS....CARDINALS......

Tune in to FOX ...3:30PM for the NFC game and CBS.....6:30 for the AFC game...

Monday....MLK Day....what more can i say.....i will probably do a blog on monday just
for The King

Tuesday.....We all know that day that is....its so funny to me that it falls the day after
MLK Day.....4 million people here?!?! wow thats crazy....stay tuned for a special post
about the Inauguration!

I leave you with this!
Pittsburgh's Own
Wiz Khalifa!

First Flight coming soon!!!!

Have a nice weekend

Happy New Year

Happy New Year to you all!!

It has been over a month since the last issue of The Jones Street Journal, But midterms, finals, bad weather, disappointments, Christmas, Kwanzaa, New Years, Playoff Football and Hangovers will do that to you.
So basically whats what i've been up to since you've last been delivered a post.

Alot has changed....but most is still the same.

One thing that is the same is the abuse, brutality & fatalities we are still receiving as a people by Police all over this Nation.
Oscar Grant is a 22 year old man who was shot and killed by a police officer while handcuffed and laying on the ground. This hard to believe and truly upsets me.

Can you believe that? A killing caught on tape and the person responsible is still free. Suspended from
the police force but is still being paid during the investigation.....There doesn't need to be any
investigation....just arresting this killer and his trial and his sentencing. But i bet it doesn't happen like that.
If it does i'll be very surprise. This is another example of the double standard that exist for Law Enforcement
and everybody else.
When will this stop? I hope soon.
